How to Move Apps to an SD Card on Android 6.0 Marshmallow

On Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you can move a supported app to the memory card from the app's Storage settings: Settings > Apps > [app] > Storage > Change > SD Card > Move.

Steps to move an app to the SD card

  1. Open Settings and go to Apps.
  2. Tap the app you want to move.
  3. Tap Storage, then Change.
  4. In the window that opens, select SD Card.
  5. Tap Move to complete the process.

The procedure on Android 6.0 is the same as on Android 7.0. We explain both versions separately for clarity. Menu names can differ slightly by phone brand.

If it doesn't work

If you use Android 6.0 but cannot move an app with these steps, the app most likely does not support being moved to the SD card.
