How to Move Apps to the SD Card on Samsung Phones
On a Samsung phone or tablet, you move an app to the SD card from the app's Storage page in Settings. The exact steps can vary slightly by device model and Android version.
Move an app to the SD card
- Insert the SD card: Make sure the card is properly inserted in your Samsung device.
- Open Settings: Open the Settings app on your phone or tablet.
- Go to Apps: Find the Apps or Applications option in the Settings menu. Depending on your model, it may be listed under Device care or a similar section.
- Select the app: Find the app you want to move in the list of installed apps.
- Open Storage: Tap the app to open its details, then tap Storage or a similar option.
- Change the storage location: In the app's Storage menu, look for the option to change the storage location. If the app supports moving to an SD card, you'll typically see Change or Move to SD card.
- Move the app: Tap Change or Move to SD card. This moves the app and its data to the SD card.
- Confirm: Confirm any prompts that appear to finish the move.
Note: Not all apps can be moved to an SD card. System apps and some other types of apps may not support this feature. Menu names and options can also vary slightly depending on your Samsung model and Android version.
If it doesn't work
If you run into issues or can't find the option to move apps to the SD card, check Samsung's support website or the user manual for your specific device model.
